New Dubbo Bridge submissions report released

27 February 2020

Changes to the New Dubbo Bridge have been delivered as part of the refined design following extensive community consultation

Minister for Regional Transport and Roads Paul Toole said the New Dubbo Bridge would support the local community and freight industry as they move in and around Dubbo.

“The New Dubbo Bridge is important for the heavy vehicle industry, residents and visitors alike, providing a second high-level river crossing in the event of a flood and reducing traffic congestion in town,” Mr Toole said.

Member for Dubbo Dugald Saunders said there had been a number of changes to the design following community consultation to ensure the project responded to the needs of the local community.

“After carefully considering and responding to every one of the 310 submissions from the community consultation on the New Dubbo Bridge project, we have refined the design,” Mr Saunders said.

“We’ve increased the speed limit, introduced a dedicated northbound slip lane onto Bourke Street and improved pedestrian and cycle safety.”

Mr Toole said the 2016-17 New Dubbo bridge consultation report had also been released, along with the 2019 Building a Better Dubbo Community Consultation report.

“The project team will now move into the detailed design of the project,” Mr Toole said

“Once a detailed design is determined, the team will call for tenders to build the bridge, with shovels expected to hit the ground in 2022. As the project progresses Transport for NSW will continue to consult the local community.”

Local residents and interested parties are encouraged to view the Submissions Report and consultation reports on the Dubbo road projects page, https://www.rms.nsw.gov.au/projects/dubbo-projects/index.html
