John Holland has reached a major milestone in the construction of the iconic 180 Flinders Street development for Dexus, with the topping out ceremony of the structure occurring today.

When completed in mid-2020, the flagship Melbourne development will be John Holland’s new Melbourne HQ, bringing its corporate and regional offices together. The officer tower and retail development is owned by property group Dexus, and John Holland will be the anchor tenant at 180 Flinders Street.

John Holland CEO Joe Barr said the A-grade development would increase the company’s presence in the Melbourne CBD.

“This will be an iconic development for Melbourne, that breathes new life into a heritage building, and I am proud that our people will soon be able to move into new offices built by their colleagues,” Mr Barr said.

Demolition commenced in September 2018 with construction following in October 2018. This required approximately 1,000 tonnes of steel, 440 precast panels, and 2,500 cubic metres of concrete.

Before completion in August 2020, the team will continue working on the building façade, internal works and heritage façade

Executive General Manager, Building, David Lehmann said the project team should be congratulated on the quality of their work.

“Everyone has worked hard on ensuring this becomes one of Melbourne’s most prominent office towers, delivering a truly impressive result for our customer,” Mr Lehmann said.

Executive General Manager VIC/SA/TAS Struan Collins said John Holland’s regional team was looking forward to moving in.

“Bringing the previous two offices together at our new Flinders Gate home will be a terrific opportunity to further strengthen our teamwork, collaboration and our culture,” Mr Collins said.

About the development
