Making everyday better for 50 years in Australia

12 September 2019

Founded in New Zealand almost 100 years ago, we’re proud to be celebrating Beca’s 50th birthday in Australia this year.

Our Australian business has come a long way: from humble beginnings in 1969 with a tiny Melbourne office set up to serve Carlton & United Breweries (CUB), to a business today of around 500 people based across four major Australian cities.

“Thank you to all of our clients for your partnership over the last 50 years. We look forward to the next 50 years of making everyday better with you,” says Craig Lee, our Managing Director, Australia.

We’ve got a strong track record to date and are focused on continuing to apply new and innovative ways across the group to help our clients stay ahead of the game. I believe it’s Beca’s culture that sets us apart. It’s the glue that makes us work,” he added.

In Australia, we provide services across diverse markets including water, transport and airports, food and beverage, power, defence, mining and others. Key projects we’ve helped deliver include significant projects for major airports, the Victorian Desalination Plant, improvements to road systems including the Pacific Highway, upgrades to several power facilities such as Richmond Terminal Station, and the delivery of commercially effective asset management systems for a range of businesses and government enterprises, including defence.

Luke Sawyer, Group Engineering & Environment Director at Lion, says their business’ long-standing relationship with Beca is founded on trust and an alignment with our values.

“I think, overall, it’s the calibre of the people. The Beca guys are a good fit with Lion’s culture, our collaboration, engagement and making a difference,” he says.

Another client we are proud to partner with is Melbourne Airport, whose runways we’ve helped design and deliver for more than decade.

“What I enjoy most about working with Beca is the expertise within the team. They understand our airport and our airfield as much as we do,” says Kerr Forbes, Runway Development Program Director, Melbourne Airport.
