The
appointments to the inaugural
Infrastructure WA
Board have now been finalised, with John Langoulant AO appointed
Chairperson and Nicole Lockwood appointed Deputy Chairperson.
This is a significant milestone in driving change and reform in how the
State plans and delivers
infrastructure and marks the delivery of a key
McGowan Government election commitment.
The recent
expression of interest process for Board members received a
strong response, with more than 150 nominations received from highly
experienced candidates across the country.
Infrastructure WA Chair-designate, John Langoulant AO will continue his
leadership and oversight of Infrastructure WA, through his appointment
as Chairperson. Mr Langoulant is a highly respected member of the
Western Australian community and holds significant expertise in the
public and private sectors.
Nicole Lockwood has been appointed as Deputy Chairperson and brings a
wealth of knowledge from her experience on national, State and regional
level boards and committees focussed on infrastructure.
Other board members appointed include:
-
Mr Terry Agnew;
-
Ms Kerryl Bradshaw;
-
Ms Andrea Sutton; and
-
Mr Wayne Zekulich.
There are also four board members
appointed to represent the Government - the Director General of the
Department of the Premier and Cabinet, the Under Treasurer, the Director
General of the Department of Planning, Lands and Heritage and the
Director General for Transport.
Collectively, the board members have extensive experience in
infrastructure policy, planning, strategy, financing and delivery across
a broad range of infrastructure sectors in both private and public
sectors.
The board will shape development of
Western Australia's first State
Infrastructure Strategy, which will identify the future infrastructure
needs and priorities for our State.
Infrastructure WA will provide the strategic direction required to
support private sector investment, facilitate economic growth, create
jobs, and maximise the value from every taxpayer dollar spent on
infrastructure in the State.
Comments attributed to Premier Mark McGowan:
"Infrastructure WA was an important election commitment that will drive
investment in WA and create a pipeline of jobs for Western Australians.
"The composition of the board represents the right combination of
expertise and experience to achieve the functions set out in the
Infrastructure Western Australia Act 2019.
"I look forward to Infrastructure WA's engagement with Government, the
community and industry as they work to develop a 20-year State
Infrastructure Strategy to identify needs and opportunities for the
State.
"I am confident that this Board will provide the necessary leadership to
pave the way for the successful establishment and operation of Infrastructure WA."
