Developer Meriton unveils a shining 67-level riverfront glass tower that will be the tallest residential building to grace the Parramatta skyline. The tower, 180 George, is being launched as the Harry Triguboff-headed group experiences a surge in sales momentum in projects across Sydney.

Mr Triguboff yesterday said 180 George would be a landmark in Parramatta as it quickly emerged as the capital of western Sydney.

“This tower won’t just be tall in height terms but tall in the lifestyle it delivers and the views it offers.
“It will embrace the best of everything that Meriton has perfected over more than half a century of development and will transform the Parramatta riverfront.”

The 180 George tower will have 525 apartments overlooking the Parramatta River to the Sydney CBD skyline and will include a major supermarket and a 75-place childcare centre. The Woods Bagot-designed tower will be built on part of a 7978sqm site on which Meriton 15 years ago undertook a four -building project, Westport. Three of those buildings are being demolished to make way for 180 George.

Mr Triguboff said Meriton’s apartment sales had accelerated out of a near lull in the past few weeks and, with pre-election caution over, this momentum was expected to grow.

“The market dynamics have changed and buyers are capitalising on sharper pricing, stronger rental returns, and easier access to finance.

“Against that backdrop, we’ve judged that it’s time to launch 180 George and that a rapidly maturing Parramatta is ready for such a special tower.”

The veteran developer said Parramatta was being transformed into a buzzing metropolitan hub and its 175,000 working professionals made it Sydney’s second CBD.

Part of that transformation was the $2 billion Parramatta Square redevelopment close to 180 George and which would boast Australia’s largest office tower.

The apartments in the new Meriton tower, all encased in floor-to-ceiling glass, will range from one to four-bedroom configurations, some with media rooms, study rooms and entertainment terraces.

Six high-speed smart lifts will service the tower and resident facilities will include a community room, an indoor pool, sauna and gymnasium, and 1200sqm of podium gardens with a barbecue area.

James Sialepis, Meriton’s Director of Sales, said one of 180 George’s great strengths would be its ‘connectivity’.

Residents would be on the doorstep of a bus-stop, minutes from express rivercats to Circular Quay, a nine-minute stroll from Parramatta train station, and four minutes from the new Western Sydney University campus.

Mr Sialepis said they also would benefit from new multi-billion-dollar transport networks, including WestConnex, the Metro West fast train, and Badgery Creek airport.

“We expect the location to be a winner, both for owner-occupiers and for investors, who can expect bullish rental returns.”
