WA base for Chevron Australia at Elizabeth Quay

15 October 2018

WA Government: Chevron Australia has lodged a development application for a single office tower on the corner of The Esplanade and Barrack Street at Elizabeth Quay.

The 30-storey, multi-use tower incorporates more than 52,000 square metres of office floor space including lobby, exhibition spaces and conference facilities.

The lower levels include childcare and gymnasium space with retail tenancies and café/restaurants on the ground floor to activate the surrounding area.

In June 2018, Chevron entered into a Heads of Agreement with Brookfield. The development partnership would see Brookfield develop the Elizabeth Quay tower with Chevron as the anchor tenant.

The development will maximise local industry involvement including equipment and services, with the peak construction workforce expected to reach 1,000 on-site.

The application is open for public comment with the proposed plans available for viewing on the MRA website until October 24, 2018.

Comments attributed to Planning Minister Rita Saffioti:

"The State Government welcomes the news that this project is now gaining momentum.

"Before being elected to government, WA Labor made a firm commitment to make Elizabeth Quay work into the future. Development of lots 7 and 8 at Elizabeth Quay means we can move forward with activating the wider precinct.

"The construction of more office buildings is a sign that business confidence is improving in WA.

"The developer, Brookfield, has indicated its commitment to maximise local industry involvement. As a result, this development will create hundreds of on-site jobs and a major flow-on of work through local contracts."
