Better Access And Safer Stations

06 August 2018

John Holland: John Holland is excited to be delivering more accessible stations and safety upgrades for half a million rail customers at Morayfield, Strathpine and Boondall Stations in Brisbane’s north.

CEO Joe Barr said the project is a testament to the quality of work done by the Queensland team on accessibility upgrades at Newmarket and Alderley stations.

“We care about ensuring all rail customers have safe access to transport, regardless of their age and ability. We are passionate about making it easier for people to get around our cities, and minimising disruption during the building process,” Mr Barr said.

The station upgrades are expected to support 250 jobs at each site and are being delivered as part of the Queensland Government’s ongoing $300 million station upgrade program which is improving the accessibility of stations across the South East Queensland rail network.

General Manager Building QLD/NT Colin Matthews said the works will include pedestrian footbridges, lifts to all platforms, improved shelters and raised boarding platforms.

Lighting, signage and security measures will also be upgraded as part of the project.

“We are focused on making sure rail customers can continue their journeys without disruption during these important upgrades that will improve security and accessibility for passengers in the north of Brisbane,” Mr Matthews said.
