Investment in North and North-West tops $2.3 billion
13 July 2018
Tasmanian Government:
The Hodgman Liberal Government is
delivering on our plan to unlock the potential in North and North-West
Tasmania with more than $2.3 billion of investment either underway
or about to start.
Some of these projects, like the magnificent $30 million Peppers Silo
Hotel, have already been completed while others, like Launceston’s
Verge
Hotel and
Table Cape Resort are in the
planning phase.
These projects all translate to economic growth and jobs in regional
Tasmania with many designed to accommodate our booming tourism industry.
The $250 million Devonport Living City, the $300 million Launceston City
Deal including the North/North West
UTas redevelopments and several
proposed
hotel developments will transform Northern and North-West
Tasmania.
The iconic Cradle Mountain also has nearly $90 million in State and
Federal Government funding locked away to finally get the world class
visitor infrastructure it deserves.
In addition there is nearly $500 million in North and North-West
infrastructure projects in the 2018-19 State Budget and forward
estimates and there are also funds to begin the Tamar River clean-up.
Tasmania is on the verge of a golden era and Northern and North-West
Tasmania is in the perfect position to capitalise on dozens of projects
already announced and in the pipeline that will drive
jobs and economic
growth for decades to come.
