Watpac awarded Hornsby Ku-ring-gai Hospital Stage 2 and Medical Imaging building project

Watpac Limited: Watpac Limited (‘Watpac’ or ‘Group’) today announced it has been appointed to deliver the main building works contract which forms a significant part of the overall $200 million Hornsby Ku-ring-gai Hospital Stage 2 and Medical Imaging building project for Health Infrastructure, on behalf of the New South Wales Government.

The design and construct contract will complement the Stage 1 redevelopment (STAR building - surgical, theatres, anaesthetic and recovery services) and provide contemporary purpose built facilities to allow the integration and colocation of health services offered at the hospital campus.

Watpac will deliver the new Medical Imaging building including Paediatrics and six storey Clinical Services Building (CSB) which will accommodate a combined Intensive Care and High Dependency Unit, combined Respiratory/Cardiac and Coronary Care beds collocated with a Cardiac Investigations Unit, Inpatient Medical Units (including general medicine, stroke and dementia/delirium beds), Medical Assessment Unit, Paediatrics, Ambulatory Care Centre, Transit Lounge, collocated education space with the University of Sydney and retail space.

The project also includes the refurbishment and expansion works for the emergency department withinthe HOPE building (Hospital's Obstetrics, Paediatrics, & Emergency) providing purpose-built clinical space to meet the region’s increased demand.

Works are expected to commence on site early next month with the Stage 2 works anticipated to be completed in 2021.
