Georgious secures $40 million contract in NSW

17 April 2018

Georgiou Group: National building construction, engineering and property development company Georgiou Group has been awarded the New England Highway Upgrade by Roads and Maritime Services (RMS) at Bolivia Hill in NSW, valued at $40 million.

The project, which will be delivered in joint venture with SRG, involves the construction of 2.1km of new road, a new 320-metre long bridge, wider lanes in each direction and widened road shoulders to improve safety.

NSW Executive General Manager Rob Monaci said the latest award is indicative of the strong relationship between RMS and Georgiou.

“In 2015, Georgiou expanded their operations into New South Wales after more than 35 years’ on the West Coast. In the past two years, we’ve worked hard to build a strong reputation in the transport sector in NSW and this contract is evidence of our strong roads capability,” he said.

“To date, we’ve delivered major infrastructure upgrades on Northern Road, Grong Grong Realignment and are currently delivering major upgrades on the M1 and the Pacific Highway network.

“The depth of our team, strong knowledge of roads and bridges and ability to work with our client to achieve best-for-project solutions has stood us in good stead and we look forward to delivering another great infrastructure project for the people of New South Wales.”

Located 35km south of Tenterfield, construction will commence immediately with expected completion in March 2020.

The project is expected to improve road safety, improve road transport productivity, efficiency and reliability of travel and minimise the impact on the natural, culture and built environment.
