Downer awarded contract for Carrapateena underground mining services

Downer: Downer EDI Limited (Downer) announced today that it had been awarded a contract with OZ Minerals Carrapateena Pty Ltd (OZ Minerals), valued at approximately $660 million over six and a half years, to provide underground mining services at the Carrapateena copper gold project in South Australia.

The scope of work to be carried out by Downer includes:

This mining services contract is in addition to the engineering, procurement and construction contract awarded to Downer, with its joint venture partner Ausenco Pty Ltd, in December 2017.

The Chief Executive Officer of Downer, Grant Fenn, said Downer was pleased to be expanding its relationship with OZ Minerals at Carrapateena, which is located approximately 160 kilometres north of Port Augusta in South Australia.

“This new contract is an excellent example of the breadth of services we can offer to customers in the mining and resources sector,” Mr Fenn said. “We look forward to working closely with OZ Minerals to ensure this important project is delivered safely and efficiently.”
