Garden Village project provides a new addition to the Port Macquarie skyline

Watpac: Port Macquarie’s community will notice a new addition to the skyline on Saturday with the arrival of a tower crane at Garden Village’s Cascades Retirement Living Development.

The erection of the tower crane marks a significant milestone in the development of this two-stage project being delivered by major national contractor Watpac Limited (‘Watpac’ or ‘Group’).

Watpac Construction Port Macquarie Branch Manager, Amos Frankel, commended the team for reaching this key point in the project that will see the delivery of 52 apartments across two buildings purpose designed for retirement living residents.

“The Watpac team has worked hard to reach this milestone since construction commenced in March 2017,” Mr Frankel said.

“We are pleased to be making progress with this important project for our community, which follows the delivery of various key health, science and education projects in the region.”

Garden Village General Manager, Craig Wearne, confirmed that the Garden Village Cascades development represents a unique and exciting opportunity for Garden Village to add to the existing self-care and retirement living offering provided to residents in the Hastings area.

“Garden Village Chairperson Noel Atkins, and CEO Tim Everson have been planning this development over many years and it is pleasing to see the development rising out of the ground,” Mr Wearne said.

Watpac Project Manager, Paul Zvirzdinas, said the tower crane going up at site marks a ramp up in structural works.

“It is exciting to reach a milestone that is so visible to the community. Our focus is now on completing the structure with top out anticipated early in the new year,” Mr Zvirzdinas said.

Garden Village Operations Manager, Cassie Simadas, commented that the anticipation and excitement is building for the future residents of The Cascades.

“Each of them have made a big decision to move into retirement living and we are so pleased to have this premium retirement living offering for them to call home.”

Both buildings will be five levels with Stage 1 including 35 one, two and three-bedroom apartments, and Stage 2 providing 17 apartments, 15 of which will be two-bedroom apartments and the remainder three-bedroom apartments.

The new complex will include a restaurant, coffee shop, specially designed gymnasium, community centre and activity rooms that will be tailored for residents’ specific activities, in addition to an outdoor retreat.

Works will be carried out concurrently on both buildings with the project currently scheduled for completion in July 2018.
