Horse Park Drive duplication progresses as tenders open for next stage

14 November 2017

ACT Government: This week construction will be completed on the duplication of Horse Park Drive in Gungahlin between Anthony Rolfe Avenue and Gundaroo Drive, while tenders are now open for the next stage of works.

“The works finished on Horse Park Drive this week mark the completion of the road’s duplication between Well Station Drive and Gundaroo Drive,” Minister for Transport and City Services Meegan Fitzharris said.

“Earthworks, stormwater and service relocations between Gundaroo Drive and Mulligans Flat Road are progressing well and work on the construction of a new bridge near Forde Pond is underway. These works are expected to be completed in late 2018.

“Tenders are also now open to deliver the duplication between the Federal Highway and Well Station Drive, with the contract and works expected to commence in early 2018.”

This stage of works is planned to be completed by mid-2019 when residents will be able to experience dual lanes on Horse Park Drive for over 7.5 kilometres from the Federal Highway to Mulligans Flat Road.

A two metre on-road cycle lane and a three metre wide shared path will is also being delivered as part of this section of the duplication between the Federal Highway and Gundaroo Drive.

“The duplication works on Horse Park Drive are part of our broader plans for the Gungahlin region and make sure our infrastructure keeps pace with our growing community,” Minister Fitzharris said.

“Other road upgrade projects currently underway in Gungahlin include the duplication of Gundaroo Drive. Stormwater installation and earthworks are ongoing and kerbs have been installed between Nari Street and Mirrabei Drive.

“Streetlight installation has commenced and major works are underway at the intersection of Gungahlin Drive and Gundaroo Drive.”

We thank Gungahlin residents for their patience during the multiple roadworks underway.
