Leading global contractor Multiplex has delivered the Australian Nursing and Midwifery Federation’s (ANMF) multi-million mixed-use commercial development, located at 535 Elizabeth Street in Melbourne’s CBD, two months ahead of schedule.

The 15,722 square metre building spans 10 levels and is ANMF’s new Victorian Head Office.

Designed by Crone Architects, the new ANMF building features commercial office space, educational facilities including a 400-seat auditorium, retail and car parking and end of trip facilities.

Importantly, the project saw the retention and restoration of two heritage facades fronting both Elizabeth Street and O’Connell Street.

“We are delighted to complete this landmark building for ANMF and restore another of the CBD’s classic character buildings,” said Graham Cottam, Regional Managing Director of Multiplex Victoria.

The project has delivered improved pedestrian access around the building with an internal atrium on the ground floor forming a laneway that connects Elizabeth Street to O’Connell Street. The laneway shares some of the impressive architectural features of the building itself including a feature stone staircase and timber clad walls.

The ground floor of the building also has an alfresco café and end of trip facilities including bicycle storage, lockers, and shower amenities.

535 Elizabeth Street has three levels of education facilities from Mezzanine to Level 2, connected to the ground level by a central hub, filling the building with natural light while providing students a stimulating learning environment. These levels feature a 400-seat auditorium and a range of educational facilities including a library, student hub, simulation laboratories and classrooms.

The top three levels host ANMF’s head office and are connected by an inter-tenancy steel staircase and atrium. These levels feature adjustable workstations, quiet meeting rooms and staff hub amenities with an uninterrupted view of the city.

Levels 3 to 5 are expected to be leased to external parties as commercial office space. Both the services and architecture have been designed to be highly flexible and offer future tenants the ability to subdivide each floor.

The building has been designed to achieve a 5 Star As-Built rating under the Green Star Office Version 3 tool.

Multiplex has recently completed several commercial buildings in Victoria including Tower 5 at Collins Square, Walker Corporation’s Collins Square, Cbus Properties Medibank office at 720 Bourke Street and National Australia Bank building at 700 Bourke Street.
