Grocon lodges Development Application for 168 apartment tower on the Gold

17 August 2017

Grocon: The developer and builder of the 1,251 dwelling Parklands Project, Grocon, has lodged a Development Application for its 168 apartment residential development located on Old Burleigh road at the southern end of Surfers Paradise.

Located on a narrow stretch of land between the Nerang River and the white sandy beaches of the Gold Coast, Old Burleigh Road is at the heart of Gold Coast lifestyle and a myriad of entertainment venues, restaurants, theme parks and open air recreation.

Designed by gold medal winning ARM Architecture, the tower offers 1, 2 and 3 bedroom apartments over 24 stories with sweeping views from coast to hinterland, taking in the sand and surf, the winding river, the city lights, and Mount Tambourine in the distance.

Jesse Judd from ARM Architecture said “The unique design matches the shimmering landscape with liquid lines that shape and sculpt the views, each residence has a unique outlook on the landscape.”

With its enviable location between river and sea; as well as connectivity to the Coast’s amenity through the nearby light rail, Grocon has reimagined the beachside lifestyle. Residents will enjoy 1,700 square metres of communal recreation space on the podium deck that includes a north facing pool and gardens, BBQ and lounge area as well as dining facilities, a yoga lawn, gym and cinema.

For surfing and cycling enthusiasts alike the short walk to the beach as well as surfboard storage and 134 bike spaces create a home environment that brings clever design and lifestyle together.

In addition to its nod to beachside living, the development brings the hinterland to the sea through lush subtropical gardens featuring plants native to the region. The 1,200 square metres of subtropical landscape seeks to produce privacy for neighbors while creating lush green spaces for residents to delight in.

These green spaces reaffirm Grocon’s focus on livability and sustainability through design and landscape architecture. 27 Old Burleigh Road is targeting a minimum 4 Star Green Star rating using the Green Building Council of Australia’s ‘Design and As-Built’ tool and silver certification to the Livable Housing Australia guidelines which are designed to provide better access, circulation and facilities for people with special needs, be they elderly Australians, young families with strollers and child rearing paraphernalia or people with temporary injuries.

Additionally, Grocon has committed to ensuring that the sales contracts for it’ own residential projects include The Big Issue’s Homes for Homes scheme. The Homes for Homes initiative is one way of addressing Australia’s critical lack of social and affordable housing by increasing supply.

Grocon’s Queensland Head of Development, Matt Leyshon said “as the largest and most vibrant regional city in Australia, the Gold Coast is a key market for us and we are excited to be continuing our development history here.”

27 Old Burleigh Road follows the sellout success of Grocon’s Twenty95 Manly and Greenwich in Melbourne’s leafy inner suburb of Fairfield.
