Review of the WA Rail Access Regime

26 July 2017

WA Government: In order to identify possible improvements to the operation of the WA Rail Access Regime, Treasurer Ben Wyatt has announced a review into the regime and welcomed stakeholder submissions.

The WA Rail Access Regime has been in operation for more than 15 years. The regime's purpose is to encourage the efficient use of, and investment in, railway facilities by facilitating a contestable market for rail operations.

An Issues Paper has been prepared to assist discussion in relation to proposed changes and potential improvements to the regime, and to help stakeholders participate in the review process.

The State Government welcomes stakeholder comments addressing any of the questions set out in the Issues Paper, as well as on the operation of the regime more broadly.

The closing date for submissions is September 8, 2017.
