17 July 2017

Lendlease, with its Alliance partners has been selected to further develop the design and construct scope, and engage with the Melbourne Metro Rail Authority to finalise the price and program for the $518 million Ballarat Line Upgrade.

The project involves the design and construction of track duplications and passing loops, construction of new platforms and associated station infrastructure, construction of stabling roads and signalling upgrades.

Craig Laslett, CEO Engineering & Services said the company was looking forward to contributing its specialist rail capability to this critical infrastructure project.

“We are proud to be working with the Victorian Government on this major project, which will improve the capacity, reliability and passenger experience on the Ballarat Line, as well as support jobs and economic growth in one of Australia’s fastest growing regions,” he said.

“We have assembled a strong team with an in-depth knowledge of the Ballarat rail corridor and proven track record in delivering complex rail infrastructure to ensure minimal disruption to commuters and the local community.”

Lendlease’s track record in delivering major rail infrastructure for communities in Victoria includes the Regional Rail Link (Deer Park to West Werribee Junction and City to Maribyrnong River works) and the Caulfield to Dandenong Level Crossing Removal Project.

Lendlease is now working towards being contracted to deliver the Ballarat Line Upgrade for the Melbourne Metro Rail Authority as part of an Alliance with Coleman Rail, SMEC and Vline.

Major construction on the Ballarat Line Upgrade will start in early 2018, with the project to be complete by late 2019.
