Construction Contracts Up For Grabs In Latrobe Valley

Victorian Government: Builders in Morwell and the Latrobe Valley region are being urged to ensure they’re in the running for government projects by signing up to the Construction Supplier Register (CSR).

The CSR is a prequalification scheme for building contractors and consultants interested in getting work through Victorian Government departments and agencies.

Currently, only a small number of Morwell suppliers are prequalified through the scheme, which streamlines the tender process by pre-assessing the eligibility of suppliers for construction works and services.

The scheme applies a set of consistent and transparent standards of prequalification and is a nationally accepted method of reducing the risk and administrative burden created by repeated approaches to the market.

A range of criteria are assessed in order to prequalify for work including an organisation’s OH&S capability, its industrial relations management, financial viability and experience.

Prequalification does not guarantee suppliers will be chosen for projects – but businesses can be selected from the register to compete for contracts with the final outcome determined through a rigorous value-for-money assessment.
