Engineering the Future

11 April 2017

Applications are now open for Laing O’Rourke’s industry-leading Graduate Development Programme (GDP) for 2018.

The GDP is a national programme targeted towards high potential graduates, and Laing O'Rourke was recently named as one of Australia’s top 10 graduate employers - appearing at number 4 on the 2017 Top Graduate Employers list.

The programme is structured over two years and is designed to give graduates a comprehensive overview of Laing O’Rourke and the construction industry in general.

It is made up of three main streams:

The programme focuses on developing the essential foundations of a graduate’s career by offering office and site based rotations through the key functions in the business.

Laing O’Rourke’s General Manager of Human Capital & Corporate Affairs Josh Murray said the programme provides graduates with a much more developed sense of what leadership and engineering practice means in today's work environment.

“The GDP is developing our future leaders and we are extremely proud of the success of the programme to date,” Mr Murray said

“Our graduates get the benefit of mentoring, career planning and progression and regular appraisals and performance based reviews.

"We are building high performing, balanced and diverse teams to deliver the nation’s most complex infrastructure, and are seeking applications from passionate graduates from all backgrounds."

As part of the GDP, the graduates are also encouraged to work towards attaining full chartership status with a relevant construction, engineering or quantity surveying institution.

Applications are open to recently qualified graduates of civil, construction, mechanical, electrical or commercial disciplines or students about to complete their degree.

Applications close at 11.59pm on Sunday 23 April 2017 and can be submitted via the Laing O'Rourke careers page,
