Western Harbour Tunnel and Beaches Link project – geotechnical investigations
20 April 2017
Coffey, in partnership with
AECOM,
has kicked off the geotechnical investigation for the Roads and Maritime
Services
Western Harbour Tunnel and
Beaches Link (WHT&BL).
Last week (6/04/2017),
NSW Premier Gladys Berejiklian visited one of the
WHT&BL borehole drill sites.
The WHT&BL project will provide a motorway grade link between the
proposed
WestConnex Stage 3 project in Rozelle and the existing road
networks in Artarmon, Balgowlah and Seaforth.
Did you know that 80% of all trips across the Parramatta River and
Sydney Harbour use either the Sydney Harbour Bridge (55%) or the Sydney
Harbour Tunnel (25%)?
Both links are already congested, and with Sydney’s population forecast
to grow by a further 1.6 million over the next 20 years, traffic can
only get worse. WHT&BL will help significantly reduce travel times.
