17 March 2017
CIMIC Group company, CPB Contractors, has reached contractual close with Roads and Maritime Services to deliver the M1 Pacific Motorway widening project between Tuggerah and Doyalson in the Central Coast region of New South Wales.
The construct only contract will generate revenue of approximately $145 million for CPB Contractors.
CIMIC Chief Executive Officer Adolfo Valderas said: “CIMIC and CPB Contractors’ market-leading capabilities in delivering major roads initiatives position us strongly for projects such as this upgrade of the M1 Pacific Motorway.
“It is our privilege to work with the NSW Government to help improve the safety and efficiency of this critical network link and heavily-trafficked transport hub, which supports industry and the economy, as well as surrounding communities.”
CPB Contractors Managing Director Román Garrido said: “Our highly experienced team is focused on delivering an efficient and effective construction program, and using proven traffic management and innovative construction methodologies to minimise disruption and maximise safety for road users.
“Through strategic procurement and partnering arrangements, we will also deliver a value for money project that provides opportunities for local workers and businesses.”
Upgrade works include widening the 12km section between Wyong Road, Tuggerah, and the Doyalson Link Road to three lanes in each direction, including the reconstruction of a 9km section of carriageway to provide an upgraded and more durable road surface; improvements to key interchanges at Warnervale and Doyalson; and the widening of existing bridges at Sparks Road and St Johns Road.
The M1 Pacific Motorway is a critical link in the National Land Transport Network and part of the Sydney to Brisbane corridor, one of the busiest transport corridors in Australia.
Preparations for construction are expected to start in the coming weeks with project completion expected in 2019.
