WGE acquires LHO Group business in Sydney

Wood & Grieve Engineers (WGE) has acquired LHO Group business to expand the hydraulics services team within the firm’s Sydney office.

Four full time and two part time staff from LHO Group will be commencing employment with WGE from Wednesday 1 February, including Project Engineers David Turnbull and Michael Armitage, Designer James Kwong and Administrator Jilda Coles.

LHO Group have been one of the preeminent specialists in hydraulics and fire design for more than 50 years and have been at the forefront of the hydraulics industry in Australia. LHO Group has been involved in many of the nation’s iconic projects including the Sydney Opera House, the new Brisbane International Airport and Canberra’s Parliament House, the Sydney 2000 aquatic centre and the Sydney and Queensland Conservatoriums of music.

The current team have extensive experience across all aspects of hydraulic services design on projects across NSW and will continue to services their existing clients with additional support of the WGE Hydraulics division.

WGE’s Hydraulics Section Manager David Steblina says the acquisition puts WGE in a strong position to meet the demand for growing engineering services in the Sydney and NSW region. “We are very pleased and proud to welcome David, Michael and their team to WGE. They bring a wealth of experience and specialist knowledge which enhances the skill set of our existing team of engineers. The addition of these team members will make the Sydney Hydraulic section one of the largest in Australia, with qualified experience covering all aspects of health, commercial, residential, laboratory, aged care and retail.”

Sydney Office Manager Joseph Walsh says the team from LHO Group will strengthen WGE’s offering in the fast-paced Sydney market. “We are seeing some very exciting projects in the pipeline for Sydney and NSW, and we have taken the opportunity to expand our hydraulics group. LHO Group are highly respected and we are very excited to welcome the team.”

David Turnbull of LHO Group says he is looking forward to leading his team in a new direction with WGE. “We are very proud to be joining with WGE to embrace new challenges and continue to deliver successful projects in the hydraulics space.
