Queensland Government: The Palaszczuk Government welcomes
Iwasaki Sangyo Company’s commitment to progress its Environmental Impact
Statement (EIS) for its proposed $600 million
Capricorn Integrated
Resort Development.
Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk and Member for Keppel Brittany Lauga met
with Iwasaki Sangyo President Mr Yoshitaro Iwasaki in
Brisbane today to
discuss the project, which is being facilitated by the Queensland
Government’s Coordinator-General.
The proponent estimates the redevelopment will support 19,000 jobs over
20 years.
“Work is underway on the EIS for the project and Mr Iwasaki advises the
EIS work will be completed this year,” the Premier said.
Mrs Lauga said the Capricorn Resort has been an iconic tourist
destination and the community looks forward to the redevelopment.
“I am pleased that work on the EIS for the proposed $600 million
redevelopment of the Capricorn Integrated Resort is progressing well,”
she said.
“The EIS will be comprehensive plan to provide for a sustainable
redevelopment of the resort and support thousands of jobs in our
region.”
Member for Rockhampton and Minister for Agriculture, Fisheries and Rural
Economic Development Mr Bill Byrne also met with Mr Iwasaki and
representatives of the company.
The proposed redevelopment includes:

300-room, five-star resort, including a golf course, caravan and recreational vehicle park
-
refurbishment of existing 331-room Capricorn Resort
-
Wagyu cattle farm
-
residential community of 8000 dwellings and village centre

conservation precinct
-
airstrip
