Leading global contractor Multiplex has been appointed by Frasers Property Australia to build ‘Wonderland’, the final residential stage of its iconic Central Park development.

Wonderland will comprise a total of 294 apartments within a 13-storey curvilinear building and is positioned on the Chippendale fringe of Central Park. Resident facilities include a cardio gym, rooftop entertaining and dining terraces, exclusive residents lounge and two open gardens.

Valued at approximately $140 million, Wonderland represents the second construction contract to be won by Multiplex at Central Park.

Multiplex is currently constructing Central Park’s fifth residential stage, DUO. Designed by Foster + Partners, Duo comprises residential and commercial spaces and includes a Starwood Four Points Hotel and the heritage-listed The Australian Hotel.

As part of the Wonderland contract, Multiplex will also construct a Greenwood Early Education and Childcare Centre to accommodate 90 children, representing the second childcare centre to be delivered by Multiplex at Central Park.

“We are delighted to be appointed to Wonderland. It’s immensely rewarding for Multiplex to be part of this transformative project. Central Park is one of the highest calibre projects in Australia in both design and construction,” said David Ghannoum, Multiplex’s Regional Managing Director.

The Wonderland development requires a workforce of approximately 400 construction workers for a build time of approximately 19 months. For almost two years, Multiplex will have up to 1,200 workers on site at Central Park, making it one of the largest construction activities for a single contractor in Sydney.

Central Park’s Project Director, Mick Caddey said Frasers Property has developed an excellent working relationship with Multiplex during the past six months with the construction of DUO, allowing a seamless commencement of construction on Wonderland.

“We have every confidence in Multiplex’s ability to deliver a building of extraordinary quality in Wonderland,” Mr Caddey said.

Construction is scheduled to commence in November, 2016 with completion due early in 2019.
