Parsons Brinckerhoff’s national rail team welcomes Martin Donohoe, a light rail specialist with 22 years of international experience.

Mr Donohoe, who will be based in the Sydney office, has joined the 120-strong rail team that is currently working on a number of key light rail projects including: Newcastle Light Rail, Sydney Light Rail, Canberra’s Capital Metro light system, Perth’s Metro Area Express and the Gold Coast Rapid Transit.

Parsons Brinckerhoff’s Client Director for the Australian and New Zealand rail business Mike Jenkins, commented that Mr Donohoe’s skill set perfectly complements our existing capabilities, and adds an increased depth of knowledge and experience to our portfolio.

“With a significant number of light rail projects in progress around the country, Parsons Brinckerhoff has sought and found a key international leader in his field, to further strengthen the technical leadership in our light rail business. We are confident that Mr Donohoe will support us in delivering these high-profile projects for our clients.”

“Mr Donohoe’s experience encompasses technical and contract management of the design, operation and maintenance of complex light rail schemes in the United Kingdom and Europe and he has also been instrumental in the construction of numerous light rail networks including Edinburgh Tram, Midland Metro, and Dublin Light Rail” said Mr Jenkins.

Mr Donohoe, who is no stranger to Australia, having previously assisted RailCorp on the North West Rail Link project, says that he is “looking forward to lending his experience and contributing lessons learned to strategically significant, light rail projects in Australia.”

“Having been involved in many light rail projects around the world, I have seen and worked through very similar challenges to those currently being faced in Australia.”

“I am confident that a shared systematic approach, and my background across operations and maintenance of these systems, will help our team to produce best-in-class solutions for the particular challenges that arise at the various stages of planning, design and construction” Mr Donohoe concluded.
