Hyder Consulting, in association with APP Corporation have been appointed by Transport for NSW as Independent Certifier to the North West Rail Link’s Surface and Viaducts contract (SVC).

The SVC is the second of three contracts to be awarded as part of the State’s $8.3 billion North West Rail Link project – the biggest public transport infrastructure project currently under construction in Australia.

The $340 million contract includes the 4km elevated skytrain viaduct between Rouse Hill and Bella Vista, including a 270m cable-stayed bridge over Windsor Road at Rouse Hill, as well as other surface construction works.

The Hyder/APP team as Independent Certifier will independently verify and certify in accordance with the Independent Certifier Deed that the SVC Contractor is complying with the requirements of the SVC Project Deed; and make determinations on matters as expressly required by the SVC Project Deed.

The SVC appointments follow the awarding of the Independent Certifier for the Tunnels and Stations Contract to the APP team earlier this year.

The North West Rail Link will be the first fully-automated rail system in Australia and is the first stage of Sydney's new rapid transit network.

The project will deliver eight new railway stations and 4,000 commuter car parking spaces to Sydney’s growing North West.

The Impregilo-Salini joint venture has been awarded the SVC contract with SMEC appointed as the principal designers.
